A secondary school student of Government Day Secondary School, Tunga-Minna, who was allegedly impregnated by the Vice Principal, Malam Mohammed, has given birth to a baby boy.
According to report, the student gave birth at Injita Village in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State, last week.
It was gathered that Mohammed was arrested and later charged to court on the 4th of April 2017, for unlawful sexual intercourse with a child.
However, He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail with the sum of N1 million by Magistrate Fatima Auna.
On her Judgement, the Magistrate said that Mohammed's action contravened sections 35 and 36 of the 1999 constitution and sections 341 and 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The student told newsmen on Tuesday that in August, her guardian took her back to her parents in the village. She said that the vice principal has not yet come to see her since she gave birth. She called on the State Government to assit her and the baby.
Speaking about her dreams, she said that the incident will not deter her from realising her dream of becoming a Nurse. She also expressed regrets of been a mother.
"I am not happy to be a mother at this tender age, but I will not allow the incident to shatter my dreams of becoming a Nurse.
"I want to return to school as quickly as possible because I still want to become a Nurse,"she said.
Furthermore, she adviced young girls to be serious with their studies and report any form of sexual abuse to the school authority, parents or their gaurdain.
Malam Haruna Galadima, the girls father also spoke with newsmen, he said,
"When I heard of the pregnancy, I regretted sending her to school. I kept wondering why a teacher, who is supposed to teach and correct her, was the one responsible for her predicament.
"I want the man who put her in the family way to take full responsibility of his baby’s needs" He added.
