APKAIYA INNIOBONG'S VIEW ABOUT THE STUDY OF BIOCHEMISTRY IN NIGERIA

Great Eminents! Great Metabolites!

The study of Biochemistry in Nigeria have being faced with so many predicaments ranging from socio-political socio-economical and other intrinsic factors. Some of these issues are inevitable while others were catalyzed by us. Repression or inhibition have proven abortive due to the high substrate concentration (the problem) as compared to the inhibitor/repressor ( the solution).
The predominance of other Science discipline have also seen the forward reaction (more interdisciplinary conflicts) favoured. Every discipline clamors for recognition and when we do so, we are regarded as being desperate. But they forget that "there is no smoke without fire" a phrase that is analogical to "life sciences is nothing without Biochemistry". Biochemistry is the "life-wire", the "back bone" and the core of any life science discipline. This is because as it simply put, it is the "Chemistry of Life". It seeks to explain the "Why, How, What, Where and When" of virtually all life forms ranging from microcellular interactions that results to macromolecular products to the direct and indirect effects on the entire human body.
Being a Biochemist isn't just a name or another title. It is an attitude; an attitude that comes with creativity, detail-orientation, perseverance, dedication, sacrifice and the mind of a problem solver. As young biochemist it is in our power to rule our world. We have value, we have essence and we are Eminent!.#THINK NSBS THINK APKAIYA INNIOBONG
