The Edo state Police Command on Thursday arrested three youths suspected to have murdered a lecturer at University of Benin, Prof Paul Otasowie.
Otasowie, was shot in front of his house on October 4th in the Ekehuan area of the state.
Investigations lead to the arrest of the three suspects whose names are Osaze Oghogho, Best Ogunmode and Happy Okoro.
Police recovered mobile phone belonging to the late lecturer and paraded the suspects who claims that the deceased was shot by mistake.
Osaze said, "We decided to go for a street robbery when we saw a vehicle driving out. So, we decided to collect the car.
"I asked the man to give me the car keys but he threw the keys away. I shot into the air. As I was loading another bullet, the man embraced me and during the struggle, the gun fired."
Speaking to newsmen, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Johnson Kokumo, said that police will take up legal action against the suspect.
