The Anambra state Governor, on Tuesday said that his security details has been withdrawn.
He said his life is in danger and exposed to threats. He demanded for the return of his security details with immediate effect and also described the act as been unacceptable. He vowed to start a fight if the security attached to him is not returned.
The Governor stated this in Awka during an Election stakeholder's meeting organizationed by the independent National Electoral commission(INEC).
He said, "I want my security details returned immediately because I am going to start a fight from there. I am the governor of Anambra State and all the paraphernalia of my office must be there.
"This is unacceptable and a sign of what will happen. Those behind this would be disappointed because we are very ready for this election."
The Governor complained of not been accorded recognition by the moderator of the function when he walked in, despite several attempts to make a comment.
Reacting to the Governor's speech, the National Chairman of INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, said the event was a stakeholder's meeting, and that's why no candidate was given a special recognition.
Speaking after the event, the Inspector General of Police, Idris Mohammed, said the police withdrew the security attached to politicians because of previous experience were cops worked for the selfish interest of their "master". He assured the state of adequate security and that movements will be restricted on the day of the election.
He concluded by saying, "We are bringing entirely new faces to conduct this election. We need your cooperation; we need your support. We are going to conduct ‘stop and search;" we are going to raid some black spots".
